    Remember the Flex Schedule For This Year:

    Starting with the 2006 season, the NFL will use a "flexible-scheduling" system for the last seven weeks of the regular season. The system is designed so that the league has the flexibility in selecting games to air on Sunday night that will feature the current hottest, streaking teams.

    Under this system, Sunday games in the affected weeks will tentatively have the start time of 1:00 p.m. ET/10:00 a.m. PT, 4:00 p.m. ET/1:00 p.m. PT, or 4:15 p.m. ET/1:15 p.m. PT. On the Tuesday 12 days before the games, the league will move one game to the primetime slot, and possibly move one or more 1:00 p.m. ET slotted games to the 4:00 p.m. ET slots. During the last week of the season, the league could re-schedule games as late as six days before the contests so that all of the television networks will be able to broadcast a game that has playoff implications. Both FOX and CBS will be allowed to broadcast a doubleheader that week.

    New Rules For 2006:

    Just some refreshers on the new rules heading into this season. The "down by contact" and "the ground can't cause a fumble" plays now be reviewable even after the whistle are key. Also, the low hits on QB's being 15 yards is a plus, but the new definition of holding is going to bring a lot of flags and a lot of confusion.

    Also, FYI:
    The league has offices in two cities. The main office is in New York City. And due to the popularity of the NFL in the South there is a secondary office located in Nashville, Tennessee.

    Johnson told a Cincinnati reporter Tuesday that he will have his own competition committee meeting with Keyshawn Johnson and Owens to come up with creative ways to celebrate touchdowns. One area that remains in play is the sidelines. Mike Pereira, the league's supervisor of officials, said if sidelines become the next area of excessive celebration, the competition committee would address it next winter.

    • The Chiefs proposal to expand the playoffs from 12 to 14 was tabled to May, but it doesn't have the support of Tagliabue and the Committee and is expected to fail.

    poor Cheifs... they are like: look dangit! we're good enough for the playoffs! You just have to understand! Our division is hell!

    The afc west must be the most winningest division in football, or at least right now.
