Fitzy has done a lot more to prove that he is a potential franchise QB than Locker has. Locker has more potential upside, but Fitzy wouldn't be a bad option if Locker sucks it up.

You know our team sucks when we use the word "potential" this often..

Fitz can make almost all the throws, and he's definitely done the most gun-slinging of any QB Tennessee has had since McNair. He did all that in Buffalo with crap for receivers, an inconstant run game, and a non existent defense. Had Buffalo had a better supporting cast around Fitz, he would easily still be their QB, and Buffalo would be a playoff team. (We've seen flashes of that here and there) If it comes to Fitz starting for us, I like our chances. Now we actually have a run game and hopefully a defense.

Fitz is an average run of the mill QB who doesn't push the ball down field(6.4 yards per attempt sucks) and seems to find ways to lose games. A decent backup and nothing more.

Anybody who is impressed with his career(77 career passing rating) knows little about the position. The type of people who think Dalton is a top 10 QB.

The chances of us being a playoff team the next couple of years lie with locker.

Fitzy has done nothing to prove he is a franchise QB unless you are impressed with a career 77 passing rating, his horrible yards per attempt and his losing record as a starter.

23-41-1 as a starter. This is his 4th team. His 83 passing rating last year was his best effort of his career.

Again a decent backup and nothing more.

    Interesting stat.

Fitzy only averages 6.4 yards per pass attempt. the average is 7.0 in the nfl.

But his int % is above average. 3.6% of his passes are intercepted.

So he is a dink and dunk QB who throws too many picks. Start him now!

Guy has averaged 20 turnovers the last two years, on a team as good as ours has been. The guyis a journeyman at best.

It's been strongly established that Fitzpatrick is a well below average NFL starter. If he's playing for the Titans, things went off the rails.

To expect him to be anything more than a competent backup is foolish.

Let's not be that stupid fan base that's always pining for the backup QB.

    Whose pining for the backup?

Can Fitz do enough to win us some games and make the playoffs IF 1) Locker gets season injured in preseason or 2) Locker is complete garbage in preseason and can't do the job?

For the answer I think it would depend entirely on improved run blocking and better defense. I think Fitzpatrick can play and be a starter but he isn't leading a team anywhere.
