That is true. But has it ever been because we had spent too much money on somebody?

And not signing Stevens meant we would have won next year. Dammit! :suspect:

True. If we had forgone signing Stevens and Hawkins then signed Peyton (and cut Hasselbeck to save that cap) and re-signed Finnegan and whichever D-lineman we signed in the 1st worked out as well as getting a steal with Alshon Jeffery in the 2nd round = Championship!!

When it comes to loyalty the Titans are a joke. Their management decisions are some of the dumbest in the league and it drives me crazy. Besides the raiders management we are the next worst and thats what is holding this franchise back. We let babin go last year and just like this year with finnegan everyone was like ahh who cares we dont need him, we wont miss him, he wont do that good anywhere else etc...and look how he did in philly. He tore it up and left a big hole on our defense (which was part of the reason we didnt make playoffs)! This franchise needs to man up and be loyal to its players. The only player i can remember it signing to long term is CJ and even that took way to long.

Its not like we dont have the cap room and lets face it, even if we do let him go we still will be soooo far below the cap and still wont spend it on any marqee players!!! Our management is a joke!

Loyalty sounds nice, but when push comes to shove this is the NFL, and it's a cut throat business.

It's all about winning. Football fans pay a lot of money to see their team win. So football fans should mostly care about the football part of the business.

Albert wasn't loyal to the Titans after we made him. There's several examples of a guy choosing money over his team. These guys aren't risking their necks everyday to just make out financially. Their agents have pumped them full of so much non football business stuff that certain guys can forget why they started playing the sport and what it's gotten them.

Who in the world would Chris Hope or Chris Johnson be without football? Same for 90% of these guys. The NFL isn't full of professionals, that's why the shelf life for a NFL player is so short. In what other career will you almost be guaranteed to be out of in 4 years?

Now, Cortland Finnegan has conducted himself as a professional all along, but to not take what ever we're offering and fans to be mad is not right. He's allowed to explore free agency and test the open market, but there is where the whole problem is. Owners aren't loyal to players cause players aren't loyal to owners. We made the guys we drafted, and so without the Tennessee Titans who is Kevin Dyson? The ones who go on to do bigger better things congratulations to them. But point being fans shouldn't hold a grudge towards the franchise they support.

So we should pay top CB money for a 2nd tier CB?

He was thrown at 105 times this season. What other top CB was thrown at 105 times this season? (70 of which were caught)

Other CB's that were thrown at 100 times and their number of completed passes???

    T Williams 56, Brandon Carr 51, Cromartie 55, I Taylor 57, Grimes 67 (127 thrown at), Tillman 57 (111 thrown at), Flowers 55, Carr 62, Cason 52. See the pattern here???

I know theres some invisible reasoning that makes some people think we should pay him like a top CB, but until someone actually backs it up with something other than opinion (or a 3 minute video with 5 stretched out highlights), then how many times are we going to continue to go into circles?

Finny is NOT a top CB. (top 10 maybe) I want to keep him too... but not at his own inflated price.

Im not trying to say stats are everything, but still

There's a reason he was only thrown at that many times, it's stupid to pick on the best player.

Its a myth. Check the list (just posted the link) and be ready for a surprise at how many times "the best" CB's were thrown at, and how many less receptions "the best" give up if they do have have it thrown at them over 100 times. 105 is actually quite high.
