Fine no laughing matter to Hasselbeck

Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck had a photo in his locker on Wednesday of him tackling Bears cornerback Kelvin Hayden in Sunday’s 51-20 loss to the Bears.

He wasn’t necessarily proud of the technique. He’s hoping it will provide evidence he didn’t tackle Hayden illegally.

“Here’s Exhibit A,’’ Hasselbeck said.

The NFL needs some proof. Hasselbeck was fined $15,750 on Wednesday for what was ruled an illegal horse-collar tackle. Hasselbeck brought Hayden down on the 4-yard line after he recovered a fumble by tight end Jared Cook. The Bears led 44-12 at the time, and eventually won the game 51-20.

Hasselbeck said he’s appealing the fine.

“It’s funny to other people, not funny to me,’’ Hasselbeck said. “We have rules in place and obviously I was trying to play within the rules, I wasn’t trying to hurt anybody or anything like that.

“I have been getting a lot of jokes today. Everyone likes to make jokes. We’ll see. The guy who got tackled probably didn’t even notice. There was nothing violent about the hit.”
