Sorry Gunny, no gay porn here :ha:

Philip K. Dick has had some great movies based on his novels or short stories. What’s your favourite film based on one of Dick’s works?

    Blade Runner (1982)
    Total Recall (1990)
    Screamers (1995)
Abre los ojos (1997) (US title: Open Your Eyes)
    Vanilla Sky (2001)
    Impostor (2002)
    Minority Report (2002)
    Paycheck (2003)
    A Scanner Darkly (2006)

The movie “Next” starring Nic Cage is currently in production and is based on Dick’s novel The Golden Man.

only seen Minority Report, Paycheck and Total Recall.

I couldn't resist taking a cheap shot. I'm surprised you haven't seen Blade Runner.

Although similar in theme to PKD's stuff, I don't think the Terminator films were based on Dick's work.

Dont know how you can place both "Open your eyes" and "Vanilla Sky"

They are not different. Vanilla Sky is not even a "remake"... is more like a frame by frame bad copy with worst soundtrack ever, substituting main actor with Tom Cruise...

Yo '40. There are so many layers to Cameron Crowe's Vanilla Sky it's almost a directorial masterpiece. So much is in the film beyond the main story that you have to be impressed with the effort he put into it.

I was hesitant to include "Abre los ojos" as it was only very loosely based on Dick's "Ubik" (Dick wasn't even credited), but to be thorough I thought I may as well. Since Vanilla Sky is a remake of Abre los ojos, I thought I'd include it for the same reason.

Like you I prefered the original. I know a lot of people dismiss Vanilla Sky but I really enjoyed it too. Despite his off camera goofiness I still think Cruise is a pretty decent actor and I thought he was solid in the lead role, and who would have thought Cameron Diaz could be so creepy.

Abre los ojos was better. Vanilla sky overly complicated it by focusing too much on modernization. Cameron Diaz was the only part better in Vanilla Sky.
