Talking Heads were making crap at least thru the 90s and Tubes - at least nationally were early 80s. Think they were from SF so who the heck knows how many albums they put out before The Completion Backwards Principle

And yes I am gonna google these. Could well be LATE LATE 70s for sure.

Talking Heads were part of The 70's CBGBs New York Rock revolution. The 80's stuff was yucky MTV stuff..

Talking Heads Remain In Light 1980
    Completion Backward Principle 1981

And yeah Tubes put out some crap mid-late 70s that I have never heard of before.

Kinda like pre Dark Side of The Moon Pink Floyd - Its out there but nobody asks to hear a cut from Meddle.

You never heard White Punks on Dope? That WAS The Tubes!

Not a music scholar here. Just know what I like. When I discovered Tubes and Talking Heads it was definatly thru MTV and Vandys Student station so in my mind they are New Wave bands. Totally willing to educated about their roots/orgin

FWIW my favorite band is 70s/80s/90s/who the heck knows when they will make it stop - Blue Oyster Cult. NY band went by White Velvet Elephants or some such before changing name. Worst lead singer ever - lol. Greatest guitar player nobody ever heard of ever - Donald "Buck Dharma" Roeser. Only second the EVH in my opinion.

"Soft White Underbelly" was the original name for BOC.

basically a Spinal Tap-like goofball act until "Don't Fear the Reaper", and then they're all like, "hey, maybe we should pursue this band thing?...."
