Sports Illustrated's Don Banks is reporting that Falcons owner Arthur Blank has 'ordered' general manager Rich McKay to do everything possible to trade up and draft Calvin Johnson.

The Falcons obviously have a strong interest in Johnson. They would love to keep the local kid home in Atlanta and give Vick his first legitimate number one wide receiver. The Falcons also have seven picks in the first four rounds giving them the ammunition to make a trade.

Good place to go ruin a career.

    Agreed 100%

Mike Vick will get more and more receivers and they will all fail and finally someone smart enough will finally realize that its not the receivers its the man throwing the ball. Or in this case running.

While Mike Vick certainly is a subpar passer, it is also true that he hasn't had quality receivers to this point in his career. Calvin would certainly make Atlanta a force in the NFC.

Well, some of these same rumors say that the Falcons want to get a local face of the francise guy like Calvin so they will be able to show Vick the door if he can't succed with him. Good plan to me, Vick is more trouble than he's worth.

That plan went out the door when they traded Schaub. Vick is there to stay no doubt.

Not this year, of course, but they could get rid of him after 1-2 years with Johnson. They would have plenty of time to pick up a qb.

This will certainly eliminate Vick's excuse of not having recievers

You wonder if the Falcons erred by trading Schaub so early. I'm sure if they had packaged Schaub and their 1st rounder they could have traded into the #2 spot with Detroit looking to trade down.
