We have a week 5 game at home against Kansas City and of course they were the worst team in the league last year at 2-14.However they do have one very valuable asset. A running back who has blown away the NFL’s all-time record for yards per carry.

When Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles logged his 750th career carry in week 17 against Indianapolis, he earned a spot in the NFL record book that had been owned by Jim Brown for half a century. That’s the spot atop the list of running backs with the highest career average yards per carry: In the official NFL record book, a running back needs 750 career carries to qualify for the yards-per-carry record, and Brown’s career average of 5.22 yards per carry has been the gold standard since he retired in 1965.

In that same game against Indianapolis Charles had 22 rushing attempts for 226 yards for a 10.3 average which included an 86 yard run for a TD.

But now Charles, with 784 carries for 4,536 yards in his career, has surpassed Brown by a huge margin: Charles’ average of 5.8 yards per carry is something professional football has never seen before from a running back.

Only two running backs in history had a 5.0 average or better in their careers and that was Barry Sanders and Gale Sayers.

Jamaal Charles is also a threat catching the ball too in his career he has caught 150 passes for 1,280 yards which is an average of 8.4 a catch.

In 2012 Charles had three runs of 80 yards or longer tying Chris Johnson for the most in one season. He had a 91 yard run in week 3 against New Orleans,In week 14 he had an 80 yard run against Cleveland and in week 16 an 86 yard run against Indy.He also had an 80 yard run in 2010 week 15 against St. Louis....

This week five game against Kansas City will tell us a lot as far as how much our run defense has improved. In 2012 Charles had 285 carries for 1510 yards and a 5.3 rushing average.Kansas City had the fifth best rushing offense in the league in 2012.

The very next week after K.C. in week six we face Seattle which means we face two teams back to back with one of the best rushing offenses in the league. In 2012 Marshawn Lynch ran the ball 315 times for 1590 yards with a 5.0 average while Russell Wilson ran the ball 95 times for 490 yards and a 5.2 average.Seattle had third best rushing offense in the league in 2012.

In week seven we face San Francisco. They were fourth in the league in rushing last season. That makes three straight weeks in a row this team will face one of the top rushing teams in the league.Frank Gore ran 258 times for 1215 yards and a 4.7 average per carry while Kaepernick had 63 runs for 415 yards and a 6.6 yard average rushing.

The three game stretch starting in week 5 with Kansas City then Seattle and finally San Francisco will be a brutal stretch where we face the third, fourth and fifth best rushing offenses in the league.I think these games will be one of the roughest parts of the schedule for the defense.

Our week two and week seventeen against Houston will tell us quite a bit as well because the Texans are in the top ten overall in rushing as Arian Foster ran the ball 350 times for 1425 yards and a 4.1 average with 15 TD's.

Andy Reid does throw the ball more in his offenses and actually i hope this does happen because Charles is a lethal threat at RB.We sure won't fear Alex Smith thats for sure.

No problem. Just an internet pet peeve of mine.

As for Charles and run defense, frankly... neither run or pass defense can be overstated.

That said, what the Titans simply need to do is get off the field on third down.

Last year 3rd and 6 was an automatic first down. You didn't even have to watch the play. That was mostly due to Gray's "Bend and give up six points" defense. With Williams, that is the aspect on defense that needs to be improved vastly.

I hope like hell if Gray comes out running that same crappy bend and give up six defense this season that Williams won't sit by idle for very long before he demands changes.Hopefully we see Williams take control of the defense.I want to see this defense dominate starting with the first game.
