Well part of it is the menu navigation and you have to stand up to do it?
im not sure about that, a lot of the menu stuff is also voice activated, and since you only need to move your hand around i dont see why it wouldnt work sitting down. plus this is just the first go at Kinect, it's a technology that will evolve. Wont be long until other company's like TV makers do similar things. 3D is on the rise, and controller free stuff will be on the rise also.
i think MS actually got something right with Kinect. Holidays sales should be solid. It's something everyone wants to try.
heres a cool video showing off the menu functions.

How is controller free stuff on the rise when only one company is doing it?
MS sparked it, just watch and see. theres no products on the street right now, but i bet companies are hard at work designing things like the Kinect.
Doubt it. So far it only works on casual crap.
I like the fact that MS tried to push the envelope rather than settling in for a hardware upgrade which is what Sony did with Move. I personally don't see myself playing any of those games but I think it's a step in the right direction.
Gotta love how Wii wasn't a gimmick, but Kinect is? No one else is making flick of the wrist controllers to play games other than Wii.
And Wii may still outsell, but Britney Spears probably still sells more records than your favorite artist. She's still dead.
So? Bottom line is money and Nintendo makes a crap load more of it then Microsoft does in the gaming department and no one will get Kinect because it is aimed at the casual and they all have a Wii.
That and people will realise Kinect can't do most of what Microsoft said it would (example: Only two people can play Kinect games - http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=398914).
