Dre Bly?

I'd personally love to see Bly as a Titan. However, isn't he more of aggressive man to man cover guy? I don't think that would be a good fit in Schwartzie's soft zone coverage schemes :clown: ...in other words, Schwartz:clown: would ruin him in our defense.

Anyone wanna give me a good reason not to sign a younger Pro Bowl caliber CB in Samuel or Clements for twice the money?

We have the cap space and it'd be a serious upgrade to the D.

Bly is a good player, but we'd have to give up a future player (draft pick) for him, spend the 4+mill on him and agree to a contract extension (for MORE money than that since Clements and Samuel will raise the bar on CB contracts).

All this for a man to man guy (we play mostly zone) who's already 30?

And have I mentioned he's 5'9?

Asante would look great on the other side of Pac, and play better too. I'd be fine with Bly though.

 

No! He sucks, and is over paid. People keep comparing all these FA DB's to RH and saying they'd be an upgrade....hell we have an upgrade on the bench already in CF. If we can't get Clements, or preferably Samuel, then let CF Lean wit it,..Rock wit it!!

 

Agreed...

It's a waste of cap space to overpay for avg production/talent. The ONLY player I'd take a chance on (since he's unproven at the position we'd try and play him) would be Adalius Thomas and I wouldn't sign him to a crazy contract...and only sign him if he didn't mind playing wherever we put him (though I'd try him at RDE first).

And yes, if we don't get a significantly above avg player, let Finnegan have a shot and grab another CB somewhere in rnd 1-4 (and no reaches).

and is certainly an upgrade over Hill

he's had 6int's a year 3times his career
and he forced 4fumbles last year and recovered 5

not worth HUGE money or even what it'll take to trade him


the question mark is that he's a cover corner

 

Give me play-makers. That's what this defense has been missing for years. People that find the ball. Bly just might be better at that than anyone we've got.

we've got playmakers on defense, we won a game on three defensive tds all by different players and all over 60 yards, I consider that playmaking ability, maybe you have higher standards?
