Does Fitzy for Hass still make sense if we don't sign another free agent?

Hass can still get it done.....just not the part where he actually has to do something with the football. He has a great football mind.

Just because he's an 8 year vet does not mean he is a meaningful and vocal leader. Silent leaders are not leaders at all..

It has to mean something that he was awarded the title of team captain more than once, though...

Letting go of Hasselbeck has little to do with our FA plans IMO.

For what Hass was making, and the play he provides, things just didn't line up.

As for signing Fitz, good move. He's a cheaper proven QB than Hass, and is good insurance in case Jake goes down.

Lets face it, it's been over a year and a half since Hasselbeck played well.

You bring up something I have wondered for some time. What are the chances that most starting QB's get voted in as a captain by default? Understand that I did say MOST, as I know that not all starting NFL qb's are captains.

Cam Newton is not a caption, neither is Brandon Weeden, Blaine Gabbert, Christian Ponder, and Alex Smith.

    FYI

Cam Newton, Mr. Sulking on the bench when I am losing. Honestly, you think he would be a great leader?

Alex Smith just came from a team that for the last couple of seasons that felt Kappernik was more of a leader than Smith.

Blaine Gabbert, need I say more?

Brandon Weeden, how often do rookies make captain and become leaders their first year in?

I like Christian Ponder, you'd think he be a leader on the Vikes.

I was just pointing out being the QB doesn't make you a captain.

It certainly doesn't but on every football team I've ever been a part of there has always been an almost subconscious push to make the QB a captain. QB, MLB, and SS are the only positions where people actually care whether the guy has leadership skills.
