Barry Sanders was great. AP is great, or at least was still a great RB as of last season. (Not sure how much longer he can be great) CJ was great too. His first 2+1/2 seasons anyway. Not to say that he can no longer be great, but the lack of production (regardless of the reasons) means it's fair to say he hasn't been for a few years now. CJ is better than his stats have indicated over the last few years imo, in fact, he's a considerably more talented RB than many RB's who have outperformed him production wise over the last 3 years. but he's not the same player that had arguably the greatest season for a RB in NFL history either.

You're missing the point. It's not trying to say that CJ is better than Barry. The point is that even Barry an all time great couldn't do it alone so to hold CJ or any other back to that standard is unfair. AP IS the best back in the game but stat for stat he hasn't been that much better than CJ in his career. The difference is that everyone loves to watch a big power back run through arm tackles and over defenders. No one argues that AP hasn't been the better back the last few years but we forget that for a while it was debateable. CJ can't just truck dudes all the time, it doesn't mean he guy sucks.

If CJ is a huge failure for not leading his team deep into the playoffs then AP must be labeled a failure as well (I don't believe either is true). To not do so shows bias and isn't logically consistent. Btw when did YPC become the be all end all RB stat? People on this site treat it as if it's more important than rushing yards, all-purpose yards, and TD's. I get that it's an important stat but it's starting to seem to me that it only gets brought up because it makes CJ look bad. Most agree he actually had a better year in 2013 than he did in 2012 and he had 4.5 ypc in 2012 vs 3.9 in 2013 so how is ypc the end all be all? Even with his 4.5 ypc in 2012 many of y'all wanted him gone anyways so is this really about ypc?

Well he's guaranteed to try at least 2 games a year when they play the Eagles.
