Debate: Is it time to play VY?

detroit, houston and cleveland are all in the bottom 12 in total defense.

That's weird.

 

Vince young's average passing rating in his 4 preseason games was 51. He didn't play well in any of those 4 games nor in the opener against the jags.

Taking those 5 games together..

5 sacks

A passing rating of 50.

Completed just 48% of his passes.

4.65 yards per pass attempt..

Best game of the 5 his rating was 62




Now in the interest of fairness we did play some tough defenses there.

Rams -29th
Packers-25
Jags-15
Raiders-27
Falcons-24


Remember how soft the rams were? CJ 66 yards first nfl play bam! Like there were no defenders there. But vince struggled against them with a 56 passing rating and only 2.8 yards a pass.


This debate is about the viability of vince young no?


So why am i the only one who has actually looked at how he played this year? Just wondering.

brilliant, let's compare pre-season to the regular season.

you know what kerry collins' passer rating was in the pre-season? 57, inflated by ONE 51 yard pass to lavelle hawkins.

 

sigh

collins stuggled with a 65 passer rating against second and third stringers and completed 43% of his passes.



i'm not going to be stupid and compare the pre-season with the regular season. if you REALLY want to compare all three qbs and determine who should have been the starter, Ingle Martin is your guy....

 

Young is more prone to being sacked than collins.


Young gets sacked for every 15 pass attempts. Kerry every 54 pass attempts.
