In that case I find it extremely odd how just about every great QB in the nfl not named Peyton was considered to have a "weak" arm in college, yet now no one says anything of the sort. Montana, Steve Young, Tom Brady, Drew Brees, Matt Ryan etc etc etc... all considered weak arms in college.

Or... it's simply that the entire idea of needing a strong arm is overblown- which is true.

I would say only Brady had a "weak" arm. The others had average to above average arms. I wouldn't say any one those developed significant arm strength in the NFL (except Brady). One example I will bring up is Aaron Rodgers, but his case is a little different. He went from above average to strong, unlike Brady who went from weak to above average.

Am I the only one who thinks being able to wing the ball 80 yards, and having good zip on your pass, doesn't necessarily go hand in hand, and that it is more important to have good zip?

I wonder if Joe Montana was in this draft where he would be ranked among these QBs. Montana was a 4th round pick when he came out. If he was in this draft and reports were out the Titans were interested in him at #8 I can imagine the outrage with posters saying he is barely worthy of a 3rd round pick.

Basically we just have to have some faith in the FO and coaches. Now Palmer's record of picking and grooming QBs has a few guys like Tim Couch and Rick Mirer in the mix so I hope he has learned something over the years. But either way these guys will have to sink or swim with the guy they take and I just hope they pick the right guy.
