I was just thinking how guys like Ansah have players like JPP to thank for there current situation. Before a guy like JPP, Ansah would never be considered a top 10 pick.

I remember when JPP was coming out, all the talk about him was extremely similar to that of Ansah -- raw with little production to show from his College days.

But as JPP went 15th, he's obviously been a tremendous success in the NFL and I think it's allowed guys like Ansah to be viewed as top 10 prospects, perhaps top 5 come draft time.

With that said, I'd be THRILLED with Ansah at 10, but know that's unlikely.

Ziggy is lucky JPP came out when he did, otherwise Ziggy is a true project and all that rawness becomes too risky to touch. Men of their size and speed are major game changers so you have to consider Ziggy anyways, but with JPP taking off how he has Ziggy gets even more attention.

JPP has had one great year and two average ones. Overrated, if you ask me.

Exactly! The exact point of this thread. I was worried it was too obvious to get replies haha but Ziggy really has JPP to thank. But his size and speed are a special combination.

So you are saying that teams didn't draft on potential before JPP?

Marcus Hunt should be thanking JJ Watt for his elevated draft status

I just don't see the JPP analogy as very strong.

    1) Players like Ansah have been coveted based on potential for decades.

    2) JPP was All American in college by some publications. He had 16.5 tackles for loss and only started half a season.

Yea nobody was saying that. I just think this is a direct comparison and is the reason Ansah is viewed as a top 5-10 pick.
