Hear me out. I'm sorta spitballin' here, but I think there's at least a tiny chance of this. The season ends. The Titans have the top pick (which they would if the season ended today). The Eagles have a top-ten pick (they would pick 7th if the season ended today). The Eagles decide not to fire Chip Kelly, saying he deserves at least one more year for his personnel decisions to pay off. The Titans hire a regular coach... someone like Hue Jackson. The logical move for the Titans is to draft OL or defense at #1 overall. But there is another possibility. A pretty crazy one. The Titans call up Chip Kelly and ask if the same package he was reportedly offering last year is still available. Chip still desperately needs a QB and there's no one better than Mariota. The Titans trade Mariota to the Eagles for the #7 overall pick and a package that includes a 2017 first-round pick, some more picks, Fletcher Cox and Mychal Kendricks. The same thing Chip was reportedly offering a year ago, except the first-rounder is a better pick. But Chip is even more desperate now. The Titans then draft a QB at #1 overall. Jared Goff or whichever QB they like best. They draft OL or defense at #7. The Titans' depth is improved greatly by Cox, Kendricks and all the extra picks. The new head coach, Hue Jackson or whoever, starts the rebuild fresh with a QB of his choosing and a much better roster. Am I totally insane? Probably.
