Copycat league: mularkey trend?

Don't think Mularkey was/is a trendy hire. His past success(failures) isn't what got him his 2nd and third chances. He's a sales person. Good at selling owners on his ideas.

Mularkey has stepped up his game with modern offensive strategies tho.

 

I think the new copycat trend was set by Dallas and now the titans.

Running backs and online are back. The pendulum has swung too far toward pass defense. Ends that can rush and linebackers that can cover, but weaker against the run.

Teams will look to go power to exploit that. Glad we are on the forefront.

 

Every few years there's a shift

The smarter teams just find ways to stay ahead of the curve before moving on to the "next" recycled trend.

JR is the real hero here making sure we had the bodies in place to pull off such a task.

I wouldn't put Coughlin in that group. He had two successful stops. Took an expansion team to the playoffs very quickly and won two super bowls with the Giants.

 

Exotic Smashmouth is the new standard for NFL offenses. Get on our level Pats.

 

Outside Brady continuing to be elite- their ground game and packages are pretty similar

 

Considering Mularkey is barely over .500 this season and has a serious losing record overall does not inspire copying. Win the Super Bowl by running over everyone and teams will consider it. We are not even in the playoff picture yet...

 

Who cares what Mularkey did with the hapless Jags 20 years ago?

Like it or not, he and Jrob have this team headed in the right direction.

I've said it a million times here... coaches get too much credit and too much blame. It is what it is and the Titans are still in playoff contention in December. Couldn't ask for more after the past couple of years.
