Right. But the common user wouldn't even think about it.

Hell, I'm fairly computer savvy... and I wondered why I couldn't just drag and drop my files quickly one morning before work to my mp3 player.

When I think of DL'ing a music file, I'm just thinking it's a music file. That's the point though- you actually have to find out what you're doing with the Mac. It's not the most convenient product, nor near as 'user friendly' as they make it out to be.

    incorrect
people start downloading iTunes songs from the Store without first considering what file type it is. that's not Apple's fault.... nor does it have anything to do with Macintosh computing.

if you are importing CD's into your library you have the option of using AIFF / AAC / Lossless/ WAV and MP3 using Bit Rates up to 320 and w/ or w/o VBR

and DRM was removed from the majority of the Store's catalog last year

  3. People who have Macs get iPods. Why wouldn't they???

It's so insanely easy my parents can do it.

    Because iPods are garbage?

MacBooks/ Mac computers = quality products.

iPods? Overpriced garbage when compared to other mp3 players.

when you download video, do you not first check to see whether it's mp4 / avi or mkv ?

I've been looking for a good deal on one to do this. So far, I'm finding them around $300. The only guy I know who does the hack is $200.

$500 isn't bad for a mini but I'm wondering if there might be options to get the price down.

    Couldn't you just get a mac-mini for $500?
