Has the NFL already announced the Compensatory picks for this year? I haven't seen anything about it, and it seems like now is about the time they do it right? I would think we would at least get something. Babin had a good year, not sure how much signing Hass will effect it though.
They figure them out at the annual owners meeting, which is next week I think. At the end of the day I think we'll get a 4th or a 5th but we'll surely get something. I've been holding my next mock draft until we know for sure. It's too bad Hass is going to cancel out much of the value from losing Babin. It's also unfortunate that Tulloch only signed a one year deal when we lost him too since he just singed a 5 year contract this week? If he would signed a better contract initially we'd get more compensation for him.
Correct me if I am wrong, but, don't comp picks get awarded based off of guys coming off their rookie contracts? So guys like Babin and Hass don't count?
I think you're wrong, but honestly I don't know for sure. Many factors are consider but the main ones are production and contract.
We added too many free agents last year, so we likely wont be seeing any compensatory picks this time around.
Doesn't this go by "quality" free agents. I mean we lost the NFL sack leader to free agency and a LB who had over 100 tackles. We gained a QB who was in the middle of the pack with his stats. S. Smith and Ruud did next to nothing.
You're right, it does. Babin was 3rd in sacks and Hass was kinda middle of the pack in terms of quarterbacks. Also Babin got a little bit better of a contract which will help out out some. Tully did lead the Lions in tackles, but it sucks that he only signed a one hear deal similar to Ruud. At the end of the day we'll get something fingers crossed for a 4th, but there is no chance we'll get a 3rd.
We will get a comp pick. We lost Tulloch (100+ tackle, started all games) and Babin (Top 5 NFL in sacks, Pro Bowl). Yes we added Hass, etc... but it all dpeends on salary and PT. I think we'll get a 4th.
