any high school football coaches in here?? I got offered a coaching position to help coach the WR's and RB's. I'm intrigued but not sure how much time and commitment it takes. I wouldn't be able to make all the practices or games, and they know that but and still want me to join. This would also be my first time "coaching" anything.
Because I know a couple of the coaches. It's not a job either, I won't be getting paid. My real job is training college athletes so I'm involved in sports.
Never coached at any level. But if coaching is something you are even remotely interested in and have the time for I say go for it. It sounds like a pretty lax situation so could be the perfect opportunity to test the waters and find out if it's something you'd be interested in pursuing, whether now or down the road somewhere. Who knows, you could end up loving it.
Next time I'm offered a coaching position I'll have to consider it, always turned it down due to the demands it puts on you, but kids getting older/son getting to the age he can play. Always wanted to break into it... Take it @DeeT04, one day those connections won't be there to open the door.
I went back to my high school for a football function, new head coach was shooting the sh×t with us talking about how soft the kids are now, but it's also not all on them, there are tighter restrictions put on coaches and players today, less time together makes for a weaker group of players...
