haha, yeah right. Hass is going to go up to the coaches and say "Locker is better, I think he should start"

Completely disagree because of Indy last year. I really though Hasselbeck was going to truly fully embrace the mentor role, but he blew it last year.

He should've went to Munch early and the week and said, "you know, I really need a week off to heal up. Let Locker start and play against this terrible defense, it will be a great learning experience for him."

But he didn't do that. It's like he was afraid to lose his job if he didn't go out there and start...

The dude is 37. He is already saying publicly he knows he can't play forever. From all reports the competition is healthy and "good-spiritied". That's according to both Locker and Hasselbeck.

I don't see the animosity. This whole QB controversy is nothing more than off-season press fodder to whip up interest in an otherwise dull period. Take the bait if you want to- but I'm certain the competition is open, fair and that both Locker and Hass will respectfully submit to what is the team's best interest.

I agree with what you said here. Once the COACHES tell Hass it is Locker's time, I think he will completely embrace the role. But there is no way Hass is going to go up to the coaches on his own free will and say "Look guys, I know you want me to start, but Locker is just better. Let him play" The first post sounded like you trusted Hass to let the staff know if it was time. That won't happen. He will play as long as they let him. Any player in the NFL would (okay, maybe not some players like VY, Haynesworth ...)

Who said they didn't like each other?

    Lol, that isn't the point.

They aren't in the NFL because they laid down like wet noodles in competition.

Both men fiercly want to start, obviously.

HB isn't going to give away the spot, not even if it was his own son, I'm sure.

He would go out on the field on crutches before he just gave it to Locker.

That's why he won't (and shouldn't) have a say in when Locker gets the nod.

I never said "voluntarily". I said "willingly". Which means when it is time, he will not create a stir. Of course Hass will support whatever the coaches decision would be. I do think, however, the coaches will value Hasselbeck's opinion when he might think it is time.

Hasselbeck isn't a Brett Favre in that way. I think he has greater insight than most to know when it is time.

    How easily people forget!

    Complete the following sentence.

The reason why the Titans had 9 wins last year was ____ ________!

No running game, unproven group of receivers, so who was giving the offense steam to put a W in 9 games?

Go easy on Hasselbeck, the guy ONLY had 7 games with a QB rating above 90% and put up Mcnair's passing yards numbers!

Not half as good as Hasselbeck.

KFC also made bonehead decision time and time again. Hasselbeck doesn't.

I just don't think he will ever go to the coaches and tell them it is time. He will accept it when the coaches tell him, but he won't make the 1st move.

Brett took it to a whole new level. He basically said he wasn't going to be Rodger's mentor, and there is no way he would've sat behind Rodgers ... dude was a total Dbag

    Easy Schedule??

Haha JK (kinda). Look I don't want to bash what Hass did last year. He played decent, but it was the same kind of decent as guys like Mark Sanchez, Andy Dalton, Josh Freeman, Joe Flacco ... I don't wouldn't want any of those guys leading the Titans especially with a 1st rd pick on the bench. Hass is average to good, but he will never be great and his play will only decline. No need to waste time on him. He did a good job of bridging the gap last year, and that is exactly what we needed. Now it is time to move forward.

As far as him putting up Mac9 numbers ... this is a completely different league than what Mac9 played in. If Fisher would've let Mac9 be a gun slinger in his prime I bet he would've surpassed the 4000 yd mark a few times at least, especially the way the game is played today.

3500 yards isn't so impressive when 3 guys surpass the 5000 yd mark, and the 10 went for over 4000 yds in that same year.

I already started a whole thread comparing Hass to KFC and showing how similar they were ... I don't want to get into that again.

Yea but Collins could really stroke it. Hass has lost his stroke. That is Hass downfall. He simply has a noodle arm and it got worse as the season went on. It isn't going to get better. Palmer at some point is going to want to go with the guy that can get the ball down field.
