I understand how NFL contracts work, probably more than most fans.

Signing bonus is all the guranteed money in 99.99% of NFL contracts. There is some medical stuff in 99.99% of them as well. Basically if a player gets a CEI the NFL will get them healed and then throw them on the street.

But we are talking about a player who signed not 1 but 2 bonuses and has multiple seasons left on his contract. CJ needs to honor his contract.

Again when a player with a contract is cut/released/ect... then the team has lived up to the contract as the player already recieved any monies due him. Game checks are dependent upon being one of the 53 players on the roster on sundays. I didn't make the rules and I don't particularly like them. I would like to see some sort of guranteed base salary myself.

I couldn't disagree more. CJ has outplayed his contract in every way and has proven to be a durable RB.

What he's made may seem like a ton of money to me and you, but he's an NFL player. His salary should be based off of what NFL RB's make, not what you think he should or shouldn't be making.

You want to remain loyal to the players that give you success. Players want to play where they're taken care of.

if CJ was not happy with the contracts terms he should not have signed it.

And you disagree with the reasons behind the post but not the stuff about how the contracts work right???

FWIW when I see Nedney comming back to Tennessee and paying back 2 years of game checks then I will agree that players who out perform their contracts deserve more $$$$s

We won't be paying Collins $5M to suck, we won't be paying Vince $14M to do what ever he'd be doing, and we shouldn't be paying Hope $6M to get the Nick Harper treatment. There's plenty of money for C.J. if the team wants to make a smart move.

Luckily Harris won't be able to demand much, and neither will Hall. The FA we need back are affordable. Let Tully walk, let Babin & Ball walk. Also, won't there be a wage scale going forwards for the rookies? No holdouts from Jake Locker... C.J. should be getting paid this month.

He's about to get paid again. He's about to get a bigger contract.

I wasn't disagreeing with your contract statement, just about CJ getting paid or not.

The only adjustment I'd make to your analysis is signing Tully. Other than that, I'm good.
