CJ in space???

    Dinger has said numerous times this year and last year that he is going to run plays to get CJ in space but it seems like they run him up the middle 3/4 of the plays and the frustrating part of the steelers game was that dinger didn't call and collins didn't audible to a screen play to CJ when the steelers were blitzing the crap out of us.

    You have to give Troy a lot of credit on that one tackle. He sped up like crazy, props to him, hope he gets better...

    They constantly BS about being "creative" with CJ... and we never see a hint of it during the season.

    The coaching staff as a whole fundamentally lacks any creativity whatsoever. Both offense & defense just play very vanilla. I understand not wanting to over complicate things..but we are past the point where the playcalling is predictable and it needs an overhaul in philosophy.

    We have the ability to run the Wildcat every now and then, and it could be ferocious. VY at QB, CJ and Ringer or CJ & Washington lined up beside VY..would be very difficult to defend. I don't see why it's so impossible for our coaches to try something new. I mean is one or two series of wildcat REALLY that detrimental to what we are trying to accomplish?

    That sounds like Vince lined up in shotgun with a 2 back set to me. A wildcat is when the position player takes the snap with a QB lined up wide. Putting Vince in the shotgun isn't the wildcat at all, you're just talking about running an option in the NFL. Which will lead to VY, JR, and CJ probably getting killed.

    Call it "Madden Mentality" but I wish Dinger would, just once, send CJ out wide right with Gage just to the inside and a TE to the right with White at RB. Britt or Wash is wide left.

    Depending on how the defense plays it, Collins can shoot the ball down-the-line to CJ who has Gage as a blocker. If the CBs go tight to the LOS, then hit Gage streaking down the sideline. If the OLB or SS shifts over to help, then give it to White up the middle, hit the TE on the slant over the middle or go to Britt or Wash who should see a lot of one-on-one.

    How about we use this thread to draw up CJ plays in the dirt. :brow:
