The other leagues weren't as successful because they didn't have the support of the U.S. media outlets. The NFL does. How do you know if the players were entertaining to watch in the WFL, NFL Europe, and USFL? You don't because you never got to see it on an extended basis. When the NFL goes overseas, it sells out. Why because the places it travels are "Americanized" to a certain degree. They watch our shows, listen to our music, buy our fast foods, and have interest in our sports. Control the media and you control the product in sports entertainment. Other examples would be NBA, MLB, UFC, even the WWE. When competition comes you crush it because you have more money and more media distribution channels (if all else fails you buy it out). Long story short we have no idea if there is better talent out there because we are fed what we are fed through each of the above named products in glitzy awesome sound bytes, commercials, and other endorsements.

As far as it being a crappy product, well, in 1987 it still got bought and people still watched. Products and commercial spots still got sold. It's the NFL. It's the only game in town. Let the NFLPA go start a league of its own. Think it will be successful because thats where the stars are? Ask them how that worked out for them in 1982 when they tried to play those allstar games. It didn't because it wasn't NFL sponsored (no media, no insurance, no big stars because of the other nots) you get my point.

 

yes I agree we need to boycott going to any games and buying any NFL products. If you could get enough to do the same then it would make a difference. The guy on the bottom in the comments is correct though. It doesn't matter whether or not you watch unless you are a nielsen family. SO find a Nielsen family in your area and tell them not to watch the draft.
