Question would we not get a compensatory pick for him when he leaves? Wonder if that is why we have not just taken a 7th rounder for him?

    Time is running out.

I was waiting on DownSouthPlayer's sources to say that Britt was traded for a 1st round pick.

Compensatory picks are never guaranteed. Depends on a number of factors, including how many free agents you sign.

Also, comp pick for Britt wouldn't come until 2015.

Give us a 2040 2nd round pick for Britt. We need something, anything.

So wide receiver Kenny Britt remains a Titan. The question now: What’s his role going forward?

There’s certainly an argument to be made for burying Britt on the bench for the rest of the season.

After all, his year has been disastrous so far. He’s caught just eight of the 25 passes that have been thrown in his direction (32 percent success rate), dropped a handful of catchable balls and been penalized five times for a team-high 50 yards. Even when Britt has caught the ball, he’s only averaged 8.4 yards per reception.

Throw in the fact that Britt – in the last year of his contract – is unlikely to be back next season, and there seems to be little reason to play him at the expense of anyone else.

But let’s examine the Titans’ situation: This is a team that has yet to muster a consistent running game, and as a result is in desperate need of a passing attack to open clogged lanes. The Titans’ top three receivers at present – Nate Washington, Kendall Wright and Damian Williams – are all dependable pass-catchers having productive seasons, but none of them are the kind of playmaker likely to strike fear into the opposing defenses.

That leaves you with Britt and Hunter as possibilities when it comes to “taking the top off the defense.”

I suspect that if Hunter had made rapid gains this year, the Titans would make him a top targeting priority at the expense of Britt. That may eventually be the case, but Hunter still appears to be a work in progress. The rookie has made a couple of splashy touchdown catches, but overall, has caught only three of the nine passes thrown his way (33 percent success rate).

Britt, despite his issues this year, still has the potential to be a game-changer. He has, by all accounts, been working hard in practice for the past couple of weeks, which is why the Titans upped his play count – from two against Seattle to 20 against San Francisco – in the team’s last game.

So as much as the Titans might prefer to do otherwise, they probably need to give Britt some more chances to recapture his old form. At some point, you’d figure that a healthy former first-rounder – one who’s playing for his next contract – would get his act together.

    Easily called that one.

Now if he really does care about having any sort of future in the NFL, dude better ball out the rest of the year. It will benefit us and himself.

Anyone who thinks Kenny doesn't have the game to be in this league is ignorant. He is slumping and all of his problems are mental at this point which can be worse than physical. Physically only a few WR's in this league have more talent and physical ability than Kenny but his mind is holding him back.
