I never pull that "if you take away this play nonsense", if he made the play he made the play, but Alex has a point. CJ only gives you spurts of yards, he doesn't get you 4 yards every time like a good RB is suppose to.

So the 4th string linemen don't have any impact on the performance of the running game? lol

Not when 11 guys on defense is keying on stopping you. Locker and our passing game was so bad that they didnt even care about him throwing it. Once teams figured out all you need to do to stop Locker is blitz him, it was pretty much over. I mean everytime there was a blitz he would look like a confused puppy!

Which is kind of funny b/c mobile qbs should be able to beat teams badly on blitzes by running. I mean that's what vince did when teams blitzed him. So therefore he didnt see many blitzes!

To point out that without his game breaking runs he is a below average running back.

And that puts the offense in a lot of bad situations (hence the comment about 30% of our 3rd downs being 3rd and long).

And I heard all of that on the radio so I have not fact checked it.

I also think we should keep CJ on his current contract (I mean we have to spend cap minimum now anyway) but I'd like to see his role shifted more to a Reggie Bush hybrid RB/WR and bring in a fatty/bruiser for 40% or so of our runs.

Of course they do, what are you getting at?

CJ has always had the issue of not giving his offense a constant flow. His numbers only appear great because they're inflated like a fat b*tch after Christmas dinner. 1-yard, -4-yards, 3-yards, 0-yards, -2-yards, 76-yards

I mean no RB is going to guarantee you 4-yards every single carry, but not going backwards 50% of the time might be nice.

I feel ya. Answer me this though. How come CJ moving the chains and getting short yardage first downs wasn't a problem when our O-Line graded out well in run blocking? Now that they are the worst run blocking unit in the league, it does seem to be a major problem. No doubt about it. It still just baffles me that someone that really knows football could watch our running game in action and consider CJ the problem.

What I'm getting at is CJ moved the chains just fine when he had a formidable line in front of him.
