WRs don't do much good when the QB doesn't have enough time to get rid of the ball.
Fair enough. All I'm saying is that his first draft was a good one. I do consider it a failing that our OL was not addressed but that does not make Wright a bad pick.
All the CBs we took in the early part of that decade who did nothing for us.
Waddell-Beckham-Echols wasted 4th rd picks.
But then MR had that one draft where we drafted 3 worthless Wrs. Williams, Davis and Filani.
Wright was not a bad pick, he was a horrible pick. We had so many more needs than a wr period. There's no way to rationalize that pick. Wright will never be more than a number 2 wr.
How can you say that after what happened to Britt? You don't just draft for this years needs you draft for needs 2-3 years in the future. Britt is in his last year of his contract and is proving himself to be unstable and unreliable. Washington has 2 years left under contract and isn't young any more. We also knew we could lose Cook this year.
How could anybody call a rookie WR who had 64 catches a horrible pick?
You draft what your biggest current need is. You dont draft for 2-3 years down the road b/c you never know what might happen via free agency, opportunity to take a could be calvin johnson in a future draft, etc.....
The majority of those 64 catches were screens. I can catch a dang screen and attempt to run with it! Receptions to me is a useless stat if the guys is not getting many yars with those catches.
I didnt like the pick at the time decastro was the no brainer to me. Wright is a slot wr that could be very good but I think the colts got the better slot guy alot later. The kid from FIU T.Y Hilton in the much later rounds. They got value and we didnt. Not saying he is a horrible pick but no value.
ummmmmmmm, ah, I am new here and even I know they answer to this one.................
