To amend you just slightly, the Titans don't like overspending, they have traditionaly paid their stars well, McNair, George, Mathews, Bullock, ect. Besides, think about it, if these guys hitting FA were really all that great and a difference makers would the teams they are leaving be all that willing to let them walk? Now obviously there are situations where it has to happen like the team being up against it cap wise but still.

BA spends money. Pre CAP he had one of the higher payrolls. Initial CAP crushed the run-n-shoot Oilers.

Oakland isn't a small market. It has a huge loyal fanbase from SF to Sacramento and down to San Jose. Don't ask me why but they do.

Oakland stuggles to sell out season tickets. It was the reason behind the teams failed attempt at the "LA Raiders".

I agree most players in FA are not worth the money at all.

Oakland is at the bottom of most reports for revenue and value. The franchise is a turd compared with most in the league.

Oakland is ultra small market(30th) and the jets are not really big market either ranking only 21st in value in 2005. So the point is what again?

More proof that this big market small market talk is just BS. No coorelation between success and size at all and not really an absolute corelation even between market size and market value of the franchise....

You think it's BS??? Have you seen baseball??? New York City holds the biggest market in America. Oakland isn't a big market, but it's not exactly a small market either. Davis has deep pockets and tends to be more involved in the personnel decisions than most owners, to add to that. You seem to be confusing the untested value of a franchise with the local market where a team resides despite not even factoring in assets.

    Look at these contracts.

A LOOK AT THE BASE SALARIES OF THE TOP FREE AGENTS

Oakland, I admit, in a way is a poor choice of an example of what is going (Walker deal is a bit outlandish as reported in that link, and was later reported to have different contract details). However, tell me after looking at those salaries, particularly around '10, and '11, that certain teams aren't rolling the dice in favor of getting rid of the salary cap.

I think fan base makes a huge difference as well as winning, if the Raiders were winning I think their fan base in and outside of Oakland, across America would kick in.

Case and point Green Bay. Small market huge fan base across America.

Small market v.s big market in this league means nothing. Tide is right the proof is there.
