British mini-series about a modern day Sherlock Holmes, this is brilliant, even if you're generally not into British shows. I've noticed people who watch this also swear by the reboot of Doctor Who, gave Doctor Who 3 episodes and couldn't get into it but I got hooked 20 minutes into Sherlock. Benedict Cumberbatch will be an meme legend...if he's not already. He'll be in that legendary group of Tony Stark, Jack Sparrow, Dr. House and Sheldon Cooper. Just finished the first season myself, give it a 9/10 so far.
I've always seen it listed on Netflix but I have never bothered to try it. I might have to give it a shot.
BBC series is excellent.. That said, there are dozens of outstanding full-length SH features starring the likes of Basil Rathbone, Peter Cushing and Arther Wontner.. Needless to say, the recent Robert Downey Jr. offerings aren't really Sherlock Holmes movies in the true spirit of Arthur Conan Doyle. A great place to start is the Hammer/Terrence Fisher epic The Hound of The Baskervilles:
Is the new CBS series "Elementary" based off of the BBC series? It's a pretty good modernization of it from what we could tell by the premiere episode: Holmes is an addict in recovery with a hyperactive mind and Watson is his sobriety sponsor hired by his father.
Best show on TV. Too bad it only runs on its own schedule and for 3 episodes. First and Last episodes of season 2 are absolutely brilliant.
Yeah, but at least each episode is 90 minutes long, so that's about 6 and a half episodes per season for a traditional schedule. Good thing about this is each minute is great and there's no filler time so they're not required to fill out a certain schedule.
