While you may be correct about The Byrds, the last sentence above shows your bias. The Eagles define country rock and brought it to the masses. For that, they are for sure pioneers.

Yes I am biased, but I'm not wrong. Pioneers explore new areas. The Eagles commercialized a genre of music that already existed. In fact, most of their members were former members of country rock bands like the Flying Burrito Brothers. They were followers, not pioneers.

You could argue Johnny Cash and the rest of those Sun guys were the original Country rockers..

Man, Pink Floyd all the way.

I can - and have - listen to Wish You Were Here all day long. The album, not the song.

Although... that song is easily one of my all-time favorites.

Wish you were here, Syd, wish you were here...

WYWH, Animals, Wall, DSotM. Heck even some of the later stuff has been awsome. Eagles were consistently good I'll grant that, but for a decade Floyd was genuis!

I hate the f*****g Eagles!!! :irked:

When I was making the rounds getting to know the local musicians here, I got railroaded into playing lots of Eagles coveres, along with plenty other country rock dreck from that era. D,C and G major can all go screw themselves.

I like Pink Floyd... in fact, I'd conider myself a fan of them, but they're overrated. So many people seem to put them up on a pedestal.

I'm surprised this is as lop-sided as it is.

Floyd, like many things classic, has to be viewed within the context of the time they were dominant. By today's standards, yes, they would be considered overrated; more likely, they would never have been heard of by anyone. In the 70's they were quite groundbreaking and original.
