Ayers Agrees to Terms

I can't lie I loved this pick. Hopefully he is able to contribute early and often.

 

Lots of people hated this pick. I'm excited to see him on the field.

 

I didn't really understand that either. I remember some people saying that he was the best LB coming out pre-draft then he posted a rather slowpoke 40 time and then everybody said he wasn't gonna be fast enough to cover.

I have a good feeling about this kid. He knows that he landed in a good situation where he'll get a great chance to play early and contribute in a big way. I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting at some point this season.

 

Ayers reminds me of Shaun Phillips-ish type of player. I personally think he could be a legit SAM LB for us. Getting 80ish tackles, 6-10 sacks a year.

 

I'm glad we got a LB but I wasn't sure about the pick. Mainly becuase if you watch his highlights, when he tackles, he doesn't hit people, he just drags them down. If they use him to blitz a lot I think that would be the best use of his skills. I think he ran over a 4.8 at the combine so probably not the best guy to put into coverage. I'm on the fence on this one and will wait and see how it turns out. Still hoping we sign Nick Barnett though.

 

Barnett would be a great pickup.

 

Reminds me of Bulluck running sideline to sideline making tackles or causing chaos back in the day.

 

I'm also anxious about the Ayers pick. Ready to see what he contributes during the preseason.
