I think what Gloat is saying is that while you are maybe buying a fake Louis Vuitton, you aren't buying a fake "purse."

It's still a purse, and we need to rememeber that the price for high cost goods is usually in the exclusiveness, and not the quality. So, the "quality" isn't really all that much better. It just gives someone with a lot of $ an opportunity to buy something that those less fortunate can not afford. It's much more of a "statement" purchase than it is a "quality" purchase.

Not really. Reebok replicas fall apart just as quick as the ones they sell at walmart.
Every Reebok nfl jersey I've owned - the threads are coming out everywhere, and the paint comes off pretty quick for such a "great" product.

and then don't get me started about just how crap Nike is.

It's just a name brand. 1 sweatshop isn't any better than the other.

I think you are absolutely right. Designer names just blow up prices making you beleive that you are somewhat special if you buy that product at full price. Actually i'm against piracy and fake products myself, but at the end, these problemas are generated by the manufacturers themselves; everybody wants to feel part of the media-fashion royalty in order to feel special. I guess it is easier to buy something to make you feel special than developing a sense of selfworth.
