Give him whatever he wants. Not only is this about improving the OL and being able to cut Levitre but this is also about protecting our asset, Mariota. We just spent the 2nd overall pick on him. We need to give him every chance there is for him to succeed and that won't happen with this current OL unit.

Remember how badly most of us wanted Andy Levitre?

The point is, bad teams have the cap to spend and DONT pay good free agents suddenly available what they are worth because they are afraid to or have GM's hoping a below avg player for the last 2 years will suddenly become a good player with no logical reasoning for the expectation. On the flipside, good teams don't have an extra $6.5mil laying around to pay a OG suddenly available so they have to try and low ball him.

In general, players released as late as Mathis was released don't get signed to 5-6 yr mega deals. More often than not, they play a 1 yr deal so they can be available at the start of free agency next time when all teams have cap room!

So we let Seattle give him $2mil for a year or we give him $6.5mil for one year. If a chance at a SB this season is worth the $4.5mil difference, he'll go to Seattle either way. But throw your hat in the ring and have a shot....even if we offer him a 2 year contract at $6.5mil. What's the worse thing that could happen...he stinks and we cut him.

But he was a Pro Bowler I think 2 years ago and all the tape I saw on him last year was very good and he's not getting ragdolled or forgetting to block the primary defender on a screen pass like Levitre. Like other top players in Philly, Kelly is always looking to save money and get younger.

So because Webster brought in one OG and it didn't work out well (along with Hutch), does that mean we will never go after a top player in FA again? Kinda silly. But maybe he can do a better job of seeing if a guy is worth it cause he clearly didn't do that with Levitre/Oher/blah blah blah.

Simply put....good graft, bad preparation. They needed to sure up the Guard/RT position in FA and draft, and relied on an injured Levitre and Bell.....That's scary considering you just spent a #2 pick on your franchise QB.
