If we had landed Manning this team would have a winning record right now.

I believe you're right about that, but Manning was turned off by Buds aggressiveness, he even called the experience coming to TN for a visit "a circus".

Hopefully bud is willing to open the wallet this offseason too. Im sure we could get the top oc and dc for $100M a piece. Then bring in the top FA in each position no matter the cost. Sure we will have to have a cap purge the following year, but Bud might not have that long to get his SB

I don't think so based on our defense. The only game we lost by just a few points is the Colts game. 4-5 at best.

Unless Peyton can play a little strong safety, he doesn't make the team much better and Locker would be a wasted pick because he'd be on the bench this year and next.

If our offense could sustain drives though, maybe our defense doesn't get exposed.

Sure, it would help but he had two picks last week. The Denver D is doing their share.

He also had much more support from the run game early this season. If Locker/Hasselbeck had a run game, it would have helped them as well.

He made the Colts much better and their defenses weren't much better than our current one.

I disagree because I think the entire game dynamic changes with him running the O. We probably put a lot more points in every game or at minimum do better maintaining long drives giving the defense a rest.

I realize you aren't one that ever complained about the Titans or Bud being cheap, but going after Peyton should shut up every person that makes that complaint or that says we never go after the high profile free agent.

They built that defense around Manning in his prime. They were really exposed when he was gone last year.

Is he now worth 21 points vs. the Pats? 28 vs. the Chargers? 24 vs. the Texans? 23 vs. the Vikes? 31 vs. the Bears?

I got a lot of respect for Manning but I've never seen as bad a defense as the Titans have right now.

I'm not saying we win all the games we lost, but Manning changes the dynamic of the game. Like Alex said, we might sustain drives longer, get up early and force teams to throw, give our defense a chance at more sacks/ints.
