One question. Are the Texans THAT much better than us?

I got to looking at stats and thinking about it and I didn’t realize that Houston was just 10-6 last year. ONE game better than us. All of the so called “NFL experts” are acting like they are worlds better than everyone in the South and some are picking them to go to the Superbowl.

Now obviously they spanked us at home and we didn’t see their starters in the last game of the year. BUT they did play most of the same teams we did and just won one more game than us. They even lost to the Colts like we did. In my opinion, they also lost more talent than we did in free agency.

I would probably agree they’re the best team in the AFC South right now, but it’s not as big a separation as people would have you believe.

    What say you?

The Texans are just a team every NFL expert seems to want to succeed, so they can scream "I told you that they would make the playoffs".

They are not superior like the experts claim them to be. I will admit that they are a very good up and coming team.

But to answer your question, they are not that much better than us. I think there will be many yearly split series between us for a long time coming.

I think it comes down to how the teams look on paper right now. Not specifically based on record. But if you go down the line, their best players in key positions had better seasons last year. Schaub is better than Hasselback. Foster was best RB in league last year. AJ is still AJ and with Britt always hurt, we dont have an WR on paper close to AJ. Their O-Line is great as well protecting Schaub and creating those huge holes for not only Foster, but Tate to run through.

Put that all together, and anyone would think the Texans are better than us. But I think if our stars play like we know they can, and Locker steps up. It could easily change.

The Texans have a tougher schedule too. Have to play the Ravens and Broncos which they could both lose. We got the Steelers and Chargers who are both on the decline. Doesnt mean we bet them, but right now its up in the air.

I'd rather The Titans play The Ravens and Broncos than the Steelers and Chargers. Those two have had our number for ages..

Houston has very few holes. Other than WR depth, and an inconsistent QB, they've got everything you want from a team. They are beatable thou. They're far from being as clutch as say the Packers or Giants, so bring em on!

They're better than we are right now, but I don't think the gap is THAT big.

Well to be fair, the Texans did lose their starting QB,and didn't play any of their starters against us really on the last game. They might have been better than 10-6 if Schuab stays healthy and they probably beat us if they played their starters week 17.

I do think the Texans will be a very tough team over the next few years, however I don't think they will be "that" much better. I think we will be a lot better than people expect. I think it will be a very close race for the AFCS between the Titans/Texans for the next several years ... Jags and Colts will be the bottom feeders for a while.

I asked the same question on twitter about why people think the Texans are SO much better than us. Texans fans keep pointing out that "Schaub was hurt" or "AJ was hurt"; but don't ALL teams have injuries? We could say the same thing about not having Kenny all year. He lead the entire league in recieving yards through the first 3 games then he's done for the year.

True, Most teams can use the injury card at some point during the year. We probably would have been better than 9-7 if KB stays healthy. But when evaluating a team, you assume every one is healthy (unless someone is injury prone ie KB)

But I think 100% healthy Texans vs. 100% healthy Titans, it would be a close game.
