Te'o met a "woman" online. He fell in love with her. He found out she was fake, and he got embarrassed. He lied about how he met her to cover it up. It could very easily simply be that.

Problem is, he "found out she was fake" after he "lied about how he met her." Plus, he continued the ruse after reporting the "hoax" to ND officials. He was still answering questions about his "girlfriend's" death during the week of the NC game.

The guy made the whole thing up, or at least went along with it after finding out the girl wasn't real simply for attention. And, I bet his attention hooring father was in on it, too. What is crazy is the links to several other Samoan football players and their involvement in this charade.
