  1. I am ecstatic but bewildered at the same time. I mean, where are we getting this money?

Oh who cares, we've got Hope for next season

Hope has adequate size for the safety position. He possesses very quick feet and good running ability. He also has excellent range. He is a sideline-to-sideline player. He is a very aggressive hitter who has the ability to uncoil and hit through a ball carrier. He shows good man-to-man cover skills. He uses his hands well to shed blocks and takes good angles to the ball in pursuit. He plays with a good level of intensity and goes aggressively to the ball. He can look somewhat mechanical in his zone drops. He needs to do a better job of reading the eyes and throwing motion of opposing quarterbacks. He can be late in breaking on the ball and sometimes appears to be too cautious. He doesn't make many mental mistakes, but he doesn't gamble much either and will not make many big plays as a result. He is a consistent performer on special teams and is a steady, reliable performer at the safety position.

Gist of a profile on Hope.

I don't see how you can't be thrilled about this signing. He's better than the two we already have. He probably could be a pro-bowler next year. It's better then drafting a S, and lets us draft at a spot where that needs more work i.e. O-line.

He has nice size, good speed, respectable cover skills, very good in run coverage, and is young. What is not to like about this? :sad2:

It all depends on the price tag. what does this mean for Lamont, are we going to shed the strong safety position totally and just run 2 deep forever now?? Goodbye 46, you are officially exstinct. Laters Tank, I always liked you better than Lamont too.

We could move Lamont to SS, which I don't like, but seems more likely since we just gave him a big bonus.

We could resign Tank for SS, which I like, but probably won't do.

Let LT and Fuller battle for SS. I'll Hope Fuller wins..
