The 4 team playoff made so much sense they should have started it with the BCS. 1 plays 4 and 2 plays 3 and the winners play for it all. How hard was that to figure out?

The old system with the 2 polls was not as accurate or fair but was more interesting. When unbeaten Alabama played unbeaten Notre Dame in the 74 sugar bowl, Bama was ranked #1 and ND ranked #3. ND got the game because they are ND and they won 24-23 in one of the greatest games ever.

A team ranked 4th could win the national championship back then if they got #1 in that bowl game.

In 1970 Nebraska went in to the orange bowl as the number 3 team, beat LSU and became national champs because #1 Ohio St. and #2 Texas lost their bowl games.

Less scientific but more interesting in some ways.

Yesterday proved yet again how superior the SEC is. Georgia Tech will be playing in the ACC championship game and Georgia beat them easy. Clemson was averaging 150 points a game in the ACC and held to 17 against SC. Clemson kicked a FG with 5 minutes to go in the 3rd and didn't score another point.

Keeping in mind that was an SC team without Lattimore and their starting QB.

Let's be honest. The only reason the SEC champion will be in the National Chapionship is the byzantine system of justice the NCAA employs. So, two years ago it came out that some players traded game worn uniforms for tattoos the previous year and the coach knew about it and ignored it. The players involved were either punnished or left the team. The coach involved was fired.

As a result, the current team, none of whom had anything to do with the broken rule, cannot play for a championship. Even though they have been playing all year and have shown themselves to be deserving. They are "ineligible" so we have to pretend their amateur integrity has been comprimised. Even though none of them cheated.

For a defense that has like eight guys who will be playing in the NFL next year, Georgia's D is pathetic. Has been all year.

Dont watch a lot of college ball anymore, but wtf at the end. Seriously? Rushing the play instead of spiking it?

Can you not spike the ball in college? (i know some rules are different)

Should have spiked it all the way. Some bad luck for UGA though. That ball would have been either incomplete or a TD. Instead it falls right into a guy's hands and he falls down.

I have no idea why they did not spike it.

It was first down, with less than 10 seconds left I believe. No matter what 2nd, 3rd, and 4th are all passing plays. Just a dumb call by UGA at the end.
