Here's an interesting way to start your Sunday morning: 49ers free-agent QB Alex Smith is visiting today with the Miami Dolphins.

Oooh, not a very good sign.

It would be hilarious if they sign him and Manning then snubbed the 49ers.

Then we could trade them Hasselbeck.

They would know we would release him.

Yea well I have a thought on that. If Hasselbeck gets released and becomes a free agent, he could actually make more money than he's scheduled to now. I think as a free agent he could sign another $20M deal somewhere. And that's not something the Niners would want to do, so they should perhaps trade for him to assure themselves they have a QB next year.

Think about the teams that might pay Hasselbeck $20M over 3 years. Redskins, Seahawks, Dolphins, Cardinals. Matt Hasselbeck is an upgrade over several QB's, he's gonna get some decent attention as a free agent.

Fair enough, all you need is one dance partner.

I think he showed enough last year to give him value as worth a starting spot.

In the time that he had to learn a new system he was very good until he got hurt.

ahh, but Cleveland might also be interested
