I liked it a lot

It's not too simulationy imo. Kinda in between some sims and some games like Blazing Angels.

The story is ok, but sometimes it looks like it's being presented in that Japanese melodramatic way. Maybe it just doesn't translate as well to America. Get's a bit out there at times, but it's a video game, and it's based in the future (2020 or so I think).

It's got lotsa dog fights, dodging, close quarters, long battles, bombing ground units and ships....lotsa fun stuff. Mostly real jets and weapons I believe, there are some made up. The gameplay is challenging, but rewarding. I like how you can really feel distinct differences between fighters.

The levels build up in intensity and difficulty, but there are difficulty settings to start with.

I'll give it a score of 8 :thumb:

Ace Combat is a solid franchise. I'd rent this in a second.

I really enjoyed the demo. It looked so real that just flying around was fun. But the demo came out a while back, so they may have polished a bit more. (not that it was needed)
I'm looking forward to renting, and seeing what it's got.

I can't lie, I rented it too  I agree with Kami, solid franchise. I've liked every other ACE game I've played, just decided to save some change and rent this time. But I'm going to have a late fee on this rental

May end up buying it anyway. I think it has a lot of replayability with different difficulties and things to unlock.

Probably could, though never really caught my eye.

But with PS3 being region free, it shouldnt be hard to find now.
