It doesn't matter how good he is compared to our past QBs, it matters how good he is compared to the other QBs in the league. We won't be playing against KFC on Sundays. It all about wins and losses, and we won't be seeing many Ws if Hasselbeck is in there. Also we had a much heavier pass offense last year than we have ever had. Any decent QB is going to have increased yards passing going form our past offense to the current offense. Look at Hasselbeck's pass attempts compared to KFCs.
