In my experience at MLB, things got a good bit easier when there were 4 of us instead of 3. It really got all our talented players on the field that year and we were a better team for it.

Thats what the Titans need to do, our 7th best player is a LB not a linemen.

Again I think some of this requires an entire philosophy change and correct fits to succeed.

I could so easily make the 3-4 work for us, putting guys in here and there is the easy part, it's them adjusting to the game from a new viewpoint thats hard.

We sucked in 2012 using a 4-3, we need to be a 3-4 and everyone knows it.

I wouldn't be against the 34. I'm just not sure it's the thing that will happen during munches prove it year... I think we have the proper LBs on the outside for it. I think Martin and Casey/Morgan would be decent at 5 techs... NT and another ILB is a big need.

This secondary still sucks regardless tho.

2 out of the 4 suck, and a good way to alleviate some of the pressure off those guys would be to have a 3-4 front. More LB's means less whiffs by our safeties.

Does anyone think we'll actually do the right thing and release Griffin after the SB? He even mentioned he doesn't know if he'll be here next year in his last interview so I can only hope.

We should, but I doubt we will. He's serviceable, and if he's got talent around him, he can be good.

Plus there's more SS's for us to look out for, so again, he lucks out because of a lack of other options.

What I'm curious about, other than an obscure comparison to Sapp because he was also a DT and in the twilight years of his career, what says Martin can't play this type of defense? Prototypical size and effort don't seem to be an issue.

I remember when people said Dumervil would fail at 3-4 OLB citing the responsibilities of 3-4 OLB vs. the responsibilities of a 4-3 DE. Career high for Dumervil... It's not the same as a 4-3 DT transitioning to 3-4 DE; I'm just saying you can't really judge how one player will transition parallel to how another transitioned. And I'm not saying Martin would definitely become a star at 3-4 DE, but from I have seen out of him, we could do much worse.

The mental aspect might hold him back. I don't think it would.

For those wanting a 34 defense...Rob Ryan got fired in Dallas.
    JCBRAVE high fives this.

The 4-3 is not why we sucked. We also had depth problems at linebacker with McCarthey out many games and Spoon out or playing at less than 100%.

The 3-4 doesn't fix any of our problems. How does it?
