No, the dead money would be $6.3 million. He got a $10.5 million signing bonus and it is spread out as $2.1 million each year of the contract. But if he's cut, this year with 3 years remaining it counts as $6.3 million in dead money; ie He's been paid $10.5 million and we've only counted $4.2 million against the cap the past two years, so we have to count the remainder of his signing bonus against this years cap if he's cut. We would save the $6.5 in salary, but his number against our cap would be $6.3 million.

From this day forward, we better not sign anymore players who have one of those purse dogs. That was a huge red flag we overlooked when signing Levitre.

The argument wasn't if we could afford to cut him. It was saying we'd be saving $6.5 million which is inaccurate. We'd really only be saving $200,000 since $6.3 counts against the cap if he's cut.

I don't care what the cost is, dude doesn't deserve a roster spot. He's awful and a liability to our offensive line.

I quite agree. But saying we are "saving" $6.5 million is inaccurate and not a point in favor of cutting Levitre. My point was, I suspect because his cap hit would be almost the same as his salary if he was to be cut, that Ruston & Co. may want to roll with him another year. I don't think that's a good idea, but if it comes down to money that may be what they decide.

Haha, ok, it was literal then. I wasn't sure if you meant he was a dog that went after the biggest purse, or biggest pay day.
