I know absolutely nothing about this. I was 8 at the time.
It does suck, we've gone over this before.
Yeah, it was much better with the split national champion and now we can argue who the real champion of 1997 should be forever.
I think Appalachian State could have beat either one of those teams...:grrhee:
This is why I said Nebraska.
Trivia: How many BCS championships do Michigan and Nebraska have combined?
The BCS obviously has it's positives otherwise it would be gone, but playoffs are the only way to really know who the "National Champion" is. It's bad that an undefeated team sometimes will never get a shot at a title because of the BCS. If beating Auburn, USC, Florida, and Ohio State types of teams is the criteria to be crowned king, then give the undefeated teams after 12 & 13 weeks a shot to do so. Boise State, TCU and others have to get cheated because of their schedule not including enough big dogs... That's lame as $h*+.
All they have to do is join power conferences. No excuses.
Because people take the BCS seriously.
Far more than your crap team, that's for sure.
Yeah people do take the BCS Champs as National Champs seriously.
Not BCS Championships. But then again it's not surprising you can't count to one.
