ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. The Titans turned in an offensive gem on Sunday, moving the ball at will against a bad Bills defense from the opening drive. Running back Chris Johnson produced several big runs and seven different players caught passes in a first half that saw the Titans score three touchdowns.

Nate Washington watched it all unfold without him, as quarterback Matt Hasselbeck didn’t target the veteran wide receiver in the first two quarters.

Hasselbeck went to Washington when it mattered most, however, as they hooked up for the game-winning touchdown with 1:03 left in the fourth quarter. The Titans held on for a 35-34 victory.

“I have been talking on this for 2½ years — when your number is called you have to be available,” Washington said. “I stayed positive, and I knew I had to be ready. It makes me feel great, to not really get my number called in the beginning but to be the one called on at the end. I think that is someone trusting in me. I am happy and fortunate I was able to make the play.”

Washington caught the game-winner behind Bills cornerback Justin Rogers. Hasselbeck said he initially looked to tight end Jared Cook.

“Matt gave me a chance,” Washington said. “And I’m glad I was able to make the play. I wasn’t going to let that ball go. I am thankful to God that He gave me persistence and a positive attitude there.”

Said coach Mike Munchak: “That was a money throw and a money catch. That’s just guys making plays when you have to make them.”

Washington ended up with a team-leading six receptions for 43 yards.

He's improved by leaps and bounds from 3 years ago, I remember him dropping 50%+ of his passes. Great guy and player, go Nate!

It was a total clutch pass and catch. I hope the Titans keep Wash around for a long time.

Britt's game-winner totally dominates this one, though.

Gotta hang on to him. He's our most reliable receiver.

I always have wondered why we swap around receivers as much as we do.....

All I know, is if Nate is not a Titan next year because we don't go after him, I will be enraged.
