    Have been to tight ends.

This has been a defensive theme of ours for years.

What do we need to do to fix this?

I've always thought that it was caused by our lack of athletic linebackers. Our safety play seems to be one of the big drivers, though as well.

I don't know why the Titans just can't seem to stop the TEs, but like you said, its been that way for a long time. I honestly wish they would just put 2/3/however many it takes on the TE to stop them. Even though that would mean probably giving up big plays somewhere else, at least we wont be getting beat in the same exact way every single week.

There is some unwritten rule in the NFL, and especially the Titans, that you don't jam a TE at the line. As more and more athletic TEs enter the league, you'd think more defenses would do more to disrupt their timing.

Wycheck is always talking about that on the radio.

If you know that your safety/Lber coverage sucks then you help them out by mugging the TE at the LOS. Timing is a huge part of the offense. On those TD throws against SD, if you can delay the TE just a little then it gives the Lber/safety a split second to recover after the play fake. But with a free release the TE is wide open when the Lber/safety take a step forward to stop the run.

And we never jam anyone. Our schemes are stuck in the stone age while the rest of the NFL is passing us by.

That's what happens when you hire also-rans to be your coordinators, though.

Jamming the TE in the red zone makes perfect sense. Letting them have a free release is moronic. Even last year when Graham had back problems we were kind enough to go out of our way not to hit him. How nice.

TEs have always been my downfall in Madden as well... until they finally made it to where you can user jam a receiver. I usually just take the MLB, bring him over to the tight end, jam him and drop back into the middle of the field.

Until we get a safety that is mean enough to punish a TE for going up the middle they will run around back there like they always have. Griffin doesn't hit worth a dang...he scares no one, plus he is never close to the receiver when the ball gets there anyway.

We get torched by TEs that probably wouldn't have but a couple catches against other teams.

I am betting that TE from SD that scored 3 times on us doesn't sniff a other game like that the rest of the year.

He won't have another multi-TD game... he'll probably finish the season with 6 TDs just because of Gates always being hurt.
