Had to happen. Hass wouldn't take us to the SB. Not saying locker will, but this way we get to see what we have as a full time starter and can decide on moving on if need be.

Yea when I saw BREAKING NEWS on nfl.com and it said Locker named the starter I got chills, really excited to see where this guy can take our team. And right now we've got the best backup QB playing. This is the best Monday Ive had in a while.

Even if Locker does struggle, I like his chances with the ball in the 4th quarter, he's a play maker.

Titans owner Bud Adams got his man, and this time, everyone was on board.

Adams on Monday said he’s excited about the future of the organization moving forward with quarterback Jake Locker, who will officially be named the team’s starting quarterback later today. The Tennessean first reported news of Locker taking over, and on Monday, Adams said he’s behind it 100 percent.

“That’s my man,’’ Adams said. “That’s the one I wanted to see getting the job.”

Adams, who lives in Houston, said members of the team’s front office called him to inform him of the news. The Titans picked Locker over veteran Matt Hasselbeck, who’s headed into his 14th NFL season.

Adams made it clear, however, this was a mutual decision.

Earlier this offseason, Adams instructed his front office to pursue free agent quarterback Peyton Manning, even though members of the organization weren’t initially pushing for the former University of Tennessee star. Manning ultimately signed with the Broncos.

Back in 2006, Adams also made it clear to his employees he wanted the team to select quarterback Vince Young, and later instructed former Coach Jeff Fisher to play him.

Adams said he let General Manager Ruston Webster and Coach Mike Munchak work it out this time.

“They knew I was interested in (Locker). They called me to see what I thought and I said, “That’s my man.” Everyone is on board with this one, and I left it that way. I didn’t tell them they had to do it, I just told him I thought he was young enough and tall enough and he can run with the ball,’’ Adams said.

“Hasselbeck has done a good job for us, but he is getting a little older and we needed a younger guy. They recognized that and made the right decision. Now Locker didn’t look great against the Buccaneers, but neither did Hasselbeck in the game before that (vs. Seattle).’’

Adams believes Locker, the team’s first round pick in 2011, is capable of getting the Titans back to the Super Bowl for the first time since the 1999 season

“Yes I think he is capable of doing that,’’ Adams said. “When he got in the games last year, he looked good. So I think he is ready to go.”

Five months after missing out on Manning, Adams said everything worked out in the end.

“I watched him the other night and he didn’t look so good,’’ Adams said of Manning, who threw two interceptions in Denver’s preseason opener. “I’m not sure how he’s going to do. … I am excited about Locker. I think we made the right decision. We’re going to be just fine with him. That’s my man.”

You guys were never rational. Just liked to say you were. Either way, we can all move on now, and I am damn excited now. Expectations aren't soaring, but excitement is higher than it has been in a while. This is basically his rookie season now in some ways. Still, the potential also has a higher ceiling now.
