It's like asking, "would you rather lose an arm or leg?" You gotta have both or you're not getting far. But, of the two, you got to stop the run first, IMO.

The Giants, last season, was 29th during the regular season versus the pass. Note that they had a passing offense which could offset some of that and got healthy late, which, IMO, was the reason they won it all.

The G-Damn Giants make me so mad. Think about it, they have pretty much the same type of team we do, with the same average-good coaching. But what gets them that little bit extra, enough to win, is Hakeem Nicks and JPP. TWO players we were 60 seconds away from getting in 2009 and 2010.

If Derrick Morgan and Kenny Britt never get hurt, we may have seriously won it all last year.

In this division you have got to be able to stop the run. Especially with the likes of MJD and Foster. Adding a stronger pass rush will also help out the passing game on defense but no doubt stopping the run will be key.

That's a good point, especially about MJD. If I'm the DC for the Titans I stack the line against them, like most teams do against us to stop CJ and MAKE Gabbert beat us through the air. I don't think there's any way he can. I actually heard on NFL Live yesterday that they don't think Gabbert will even win the starting job.

But if you can't stop the pass and you load the box all game most NFL caliber QBs will beat you.
Gabbert wasn't NFL caliber last year but that doesn't condemn him to being a poor QB forever it just makes him a rookie QB that played before he was ready.

Best not to think about what ifs, sadly we have had a few of those the past few years.

Yea its not good to think about but IMO Nicks is the best young WR after AJ Green and we were so close to having him. Errrrrr. Oh well..... Britt is a beast when hes available.

If Britt can ever stay healthy, I would probably say he is better than Nicks.

Would prefer to be great at both. But if I had to pick just one, I'd rather have an awesome pass defense. Passing league. Only makes sense that's what you'd most want to be able to stop.

You may give up some long, clock-killing drives with a poor run defense. But you're going to give up a lot of HUGE plays with a poor pass defense. If you have even a decent offense on top of a great pass defense then you're going to be in most games. But if you only have a decent offense with a very bad pass defense then you're going to get outscored more often than not.

    Both.

But yea... Stopping the run is priority in this division, at least. Shut down MJD and you atomically win. Shut down Foster, you will likely win.

Hard to prioritize one or the other though.

The one thing I liked about Fisher was that his priority was always stopping the run. Although, in his latter years, he failed to do that - and the NFL has become a passing league. That's was his downfall.
