I think luck is going to end up like David Carr, shell-shocked.

I like the guy, a lot, but he's done. I remember when people wanted the Titan's to sign him to mentor Jake Locker.....oh god.

Donovan is certainly in denial about his abilities now, that seems for sure.

That said, a back up QB job would be a pretty sweet gig, I'd think. When the starting QB begins to play poorly, everyone wants you. If you play poorly in place of the starting QB, well, no one really expected you to succeed anyway. If you play better, then you've proved your point and can show people what you have left.

What is the average salary of a back up? A couple of articles I've read said the average is 1.5 - 2 million. I'm sure he might have the bargaining power to earn a little more than that as a back up, maybe.

This is the way i look at it.He would be a really good backup quarterback and could provide a spark to a team coming in as a backup. The stubborn refusal to accept he is no longer a starter is hurting him and also his legacy. He could easily hang around another five or six years as a backup and he could very well rejuvenate his career.Embracing a backup role and coming in to help at the backup spot could breathe new life into his career. However 32 teams have said no to him as a starter. He either needs to graciously accept a backup role or retire.

He's DONE. Two years of massive failure at QB at over 30 is a death sentence for a career. He's a known malcontent with a bad attitude. A lot of people blamed T.O. for all the quarrelling, but I firmly believe Dono had a big hand in it, but played the hero. Ever since then, he's been either not good, having a bad attitude, or both.

I don't want him anymore. Before the Vikings/Redskins, I'd have been all for it.
Not worth the money and headaches. Hasselbeck is already a lot better, and hasselbeck 5 years from now will probably be better.

What team would even want him as a mentor? He didn't bother to learn the plays for the Redskins. He hasn't bothered to be in shape the past few years. Not exactly the qualities you look for in a mentor.

Even if he had a complete change of heart, I don't think any teams would be interested.

He was my third choice behind Hasselbeck and Palmer... But whoever made the thread about us needing to sign McNabb when the Vikings released him is a dummy.
