That game was a disaster. There is no way all blame falls on Hasselbeck. He shares it with everyone else. That was a team non-effort.

A player NEVER makes the decision to take himself out of a game, only the coaches and doctors do that.

It is the players responsibility to do what the coach asks of him, to the best of his ability.
It is the coaches responsibility to ask of the player only what he has the ability to do.

If all things are deemed equal, then the Titans must start Locker. It isn't as much about this year's results as beyond.

But the early schedule is tough to toss Locker into. It won't do much for confidence if he were to struggle. He's got to have the weapons around him (running game) to ease the pressure.

It's a sink or swim league. Hard or not, gotta start somewhere.

Totally different game if Locker starts.

Who do you guys think should start week 1? We all know the difficulty of the first couple games. Maybe starting with veteran hasselbeck would be smart. Locker has incredible potential but it's tough to throw him in against new England week 1. Might destroy his confidence.. Thoughts?

    the 1st 5 games:

    New England (31)
    San Diego (13)
    Detriot (22)
    Houston (3)
    Minnesota (26)

    # in ()s is their rank for Pass Yrds Per Game last year. Avg is 19th overall (sub HOU out and it's 23rd). Not exactly a rough start for an opposing QB.

Do you not think it will hurt his confidence if the coaches tell him he is not ready to start even if he beats out Hasselbeck in preseason. I think they do more damage not starting him. The coaching staff needs to show confidence in Jake.

I really doubt they will hold Locker back if he clearly shows he can beat out Hasselbeck.
